"Hollywood is a place where they'll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul." - Marilyn Monroe
Throughout the late 1940s, Marilyn's career was a rollercoaster ride, swerving from several bit parts in films to no work at all. In 1949, Marilyn was paid $50 for posing nude by the photographer Tom Kelley. When the shots appeared a few years later, Marilyn was able to play the scandal down and garner public sympathy by explaining she only did it as she had no way of paying the rent.
