"Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." - Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jeane Mortenson (soon after changed to Baker) on 1 June 1926. After a turbulent childhood, Marilyn married when she was just 16 to army man James Dougherty to avoid being sent back into care. While working at a munitions factory, she was spotted an Air Forces member who was charged with photographing young women helping the war effort. After encouraging her to apply, Marilyn signed with the Blue Book Modelling Agency in the mid-40s (circa this photograph), with her marriage ending in 1946.
