Some very dear friends of ours came back singing the praises of their sublimely chic bolt hole, the Ilse Crawford-designed Olde Bell inn, in Berkshire. As discerning style mavens, we trust their taste implicitly, so it proved one more reason why we're excited by the literary weekend The Olde Bell are hosting on 17 June. Headlined by author and journalist Jon Ronson, Bell Stories is the first of several one-day events celebrating 40 years of book publishers Picador. With talks, Q&As and book signings by their rising stars (including the fabulous Stuart Evers, whose collection Ten Stories About Smoking we read last year and adored) held in the library and barns of the inn, it promises to be a glorious bijoux occasion for book worms. Heaven.
