One of the major inclusions in Mark Wallinger's summer exhibition at The Baltic is the premiere of his film Construction Site, which sees builders put up and dismantle a huge scaffold erected on the beach (building nowhere to be seen). Twice nominated for the Turner Prize (which he won in 2007) and chosen to represent Britain at the Venice Biennale in 2001, Wallinger's canny ability to transform the everyday into the existential, the poetic and the profound is both his creative alchemy and a source of much controversy. This, his most grand scale show for over 10 years, is not likely to disappoint on either front.
