Is there any area of the fashion world left for Alice Temperley to conquer? From red carpet to royalty (Kate Middleton is one famous fan), the fashion designer has left no sartorial stone unturned - with wedding dresses even receiving the famous Temperley touch. For high street fashion fans, the long wait to get a little bit of Alice Temperley is now over as the designer's diffusion line - her first ever - hit John Lewis stores.
However fashion fans better snap up the collection quickly. Temperley's Somerset collection has become the fastest-selling collection in John Lewis history. Hundreds of fans queued early and takings were 11 times the number usually seen for a brand launch.
Named after the designer's beloved home county, the collection includes 60 pieces ranging in price from £29 for a scarf, to £99 for a day dress and £1,000 for a luxe sheepskin coat (a particularly popular item on launch day).
Featuring plenty of the bohemian and Victorian touches that Temperley is known for, expect everything from floor-length evening frocks to timeless classics. "I wanted it to be very much a collection of essentials and to design pieces that provide a functional wardrobe for women in their everyday life," says Temperley, who sweetly served tea to the fashion fans who queued at John Lewis on Oxford Street to snap up the collection first.
If you missed out, the second phase of the a/w 2012 collection hits shops at the end of September.
Race you there...
