Wooden Shelves Before & After

cherrymenlove.com

We've already filled you in on the craftiness of the wonderful blogger Cherry Menlove (see her cute idea for framing baby clothes) but take note, she's also one to bookmark for her fantastic home decor and design tips.

The hip homemaker has kindly agreed to share this DIY project with Easy Living readers, complete with before and after pictures (and oh how we LOVE those).

The picture above shows Cherry's former dining room, a space she describes as a beautifully bright room, sunny during the day and gorgeously cosy in the winter. The only problem? A rather uninspiring set of shelves. While they are incredibly practical and make a great use of the alcoves either side of the fireplace, they're not particularly pretty to look at. Step in Cherry (with a little help from her DIY dab-hand dad), who created the stylish new shelves on the right from no more than:

  1. Plywood
  2. Chipboard
  3. A slick of Wimbourne White paint by Farrow & Ball

Not only do they look great but they provide the perfect storage for Cherry's collection of pretty vintage-style crockery and glassware.
