LocationThe name gives it away, but if you're not giving a cabbies a run for their money with The Knowledge, Ten Manchester Street is housed on a quiet street in London's quaint Marylebone.
Why goSmall, yet perfectly formed, this 45-room hotel features a Mad Men-esque cigar terrace and is oh-so close to London's Oxford Street. But the local area is a real gem, with a village-like feel and plenty of beautiful shops and restaurants on your doorstep. Just in time for Christmas, they've launched a fabulous package with champagne afternoon tea, exclusive discounts, and in-store gifts at local shops. Your purchases will be delivered direct to the Ten Manchester Street lobby.
The roomQuietly stylish. Think lots of luxurious fabrics and fabulous wallpaper, with touches of inviting burgundies and golds. The beds were some of the most comfortable we've slept in.
Eating and drinkingNearby Blandford Street has a slew of fine dining restaurants but dinner at Ten Manchester Street can hold its own. Pre-dinner cocktails are highly recommended while our steak and chips were perfectly cooked with a generous dollop of Bernaise sauce. Chocolate puddings? Well worth the indulgence. Ten Manchester Street also do a superb afternoon tea and we loved their continental breakfast (we couldn't manage a cooked after the food-fest the night before).
Out and aboutWander to the shops and cafes of nearby Marylebone High Street. There are well-known brands like Whistles and By Malene Birger, but we also love KJ's Laundry and the jewellery at Kabiri. The website marylebonevillage.com is an excellent resource of the local area. Alternatively, Oxford Street is about a 15 minute stroll away. Don't miss the amazing collection of art at the Wallace Collection (Hertford House, Manchester Square).
